Her doctor's explanation was that her ear was becoming a machine. While at the hospital she met Somchai, a construction worker with the same complaint, and they started to compare the ways their bodies sound on the inside. 　　In this fusion of medical reporting, societal reflection, soundscape, and personal poetic self-examination Jung reveals through image and sound just how thin the dividing line is between sound and noise. Going beyond her own, individual experience—which ranges from mind-blowing to claustrophobic—she argues that the powers that be regard the voices of marginalized people (who often perform work that causes hearing damage) as noise, and combat it as such.

Haeryu,' a young man who can't live according to his will due to his sick mother, one day accidentally falls into the water from a bridge. In a precarious situation that makes him think of death, Haeryu is rescued by Gon, a mysterious man who appears with a school of fish. Haeryu sees the 'gills' beneath Gon's ears. After this incident, Haeryu begins searching for the man who has saved her life and happens to meet Gangha, from whom she hears about Gon's past.

Ga-young learns of her mother’s death from Sun-ae, her mother’s longtime partner. Though strangers to each other, Ga-young and Sun-ae are brought together to arrange the funeral. As they go through the funeral rites, Ga-young comes to discover a side of her mother she had never known.
